Hebrew Roots of Christianity and Biblical Geography and Archeology
Objective: This course is designed to give students the foundation of Christianity by examining ancient Jewish culture and perspectives. The course also examines the geography and archeology of the Bible lands from the Old Testament to the New Testament.
Schedule: Hebrew Roots
Week 1 Introduction, Hebrew language (Gamatria, Pictographs, Storiographs)
Week 2 Bedouin culture, Jewish Tent of Meeting
Week 3 Foreshadowers of the Messiah, Unified Kingdoms, Divided Kingdoms
Week 4 Inter-testamental culture, 1st Century Palestine
Geography and Archeology
Week 5 Significant of location in Judaism, Mt. Zion, Beth El, Bethlehem
Week 6 Ruins of Biblical cities validating significant people and places
Week 7 Search for Noah’s Ark, Temple furniture and implements
Week 8 Archeology and Geography validate Biblical narrative
Grades:
Students will be evaluated based on three criteria: 1. Class participation 2. In class presentation 3. Examination
Outcomes:
At the conclusion of this course students will understand the integral connection between Judaism and the Christian faith. Students should also be familiarized with the geography of the Bible lands from the Garden of Eden to the Isle of Patmos where John was given the Revelation of Christ. Students will also be exposed to verified archeology validating the Bible and ongoing archeological excavations and searches.
